Race Recaps

Summer Steamer 5K Recap

The past few weekends, we have been hitting the road traveling to races since all of them seem to be towards Atlanta. Saturday we drove to Kennesaw for the Summer Steamer 10K/5K.  I ran the 5K which was one big loop around an industrial complex. The race had a nice mixture of steady hills with a few downhills. We actually ran near Kennesaw mountain and down a shaded fitness path on the last mile. I tried to run the whole race but I had to walk a few of the hills. I finished in 36:46 and was 9 out of 16 in my age group. This race gave out finishers medals to all participants so I was happy.

I was more excited to run Saturday then I have been in a long time. I have been so busy lately, that I haven’t had a lot of time to run during the week to train. Plus with it being so hot out, we have started running on the treadmill. I have become addicted to working out at the gym trying to strengthen my arms. I am working hard to gain strength for the Spartan race we have coming up in November. We also started planning out our races for the rest of the year. It’s going to be a fun filled Fall for us.

This Saturday, I won’t be able to run because I have Yoga teacher training ALL day. I will make up for it the next weekend though. I miss seeing all my running family. I feel like I have not seen some friends lately. This weekend I will have to post about my Yoga certification to fill you guys in on what I am doing in class.

Hope to see you all soon!
