Running offers a lot of great benefits as we all know, but the best benefit I have gotten out of running is all of the wonderful friends I have made along the way. The Made In The USA 5K that we ran on Saturday made me realize just how awesome this running thing is! I had a few of my closest friends there and I realized how much I look forward to the weekends. There is never a dull moment and there’s always jokes and laughter going on amongst us. No matter what my clock time is or if I placed or not, I always have fun.
With all this rain we have been having, it turned out to be a nice day for a run Saturday morning. Since the rain held off, I was able to try out my new 2017 Peachtree shoes. I was not the only one with them on, there was at least five other people I saw at the start line wearing the same shoe. I really wanted to go up to those people and ask them if they wanted to take a group photo of our shoes. I figured they would think I’m weird though, which I am sometimes, so I fought the urge. I was all pumped up at the start line before the race ready to go! I’ve had a lot of energy lately, I just wish that energy would turn in to speed! The course was a little hilly but I was so proud of myself because I made it up most of the first hill without walking. I finished in 36:57 and placed 6th in my age group. I got a participation medal! I know some people don’t like those but I love them. I will take any type of bling for my wall! HA
We got our bib numbers for our first Peachtree! I am so excited about this experience. The expo was awesome, I was like a kid in a candy shop walking around. I know I probably looked weird because when I get excited, my eyes get real big. Kind of like this. Meet Poppy, I have been compared to her and this is very close to what I look like when excited.
Anyways, there was so much to look at and running stuff at every booth. I had to tell myself to think things through because when I see tanks with sayings on them, I automatically want all of them! That being said, I have an awesome outfit planned for the Peachtree! I know it’s going to be a blast. Look for my Peachtree blog post later this week!
I started my Yoga teacher training classes this past Friday. I think its going to be a great experience for me. I will admit I was a little intimidated throughout the class because they kept correcting my poses. I’m not as flexible as some of the girls in my class. I also have some issues with my legs so it’s hard to do some of the poses. Hopefully with a lot more practice, I can strengthen the poses that I can do good already to be even better. I didn’t realize how much work I am going to have to put in to this but I’m ready for the challenge.
Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
