It was a last minute decision to run another 5K this weekend. My awesome running friend messaged me and asked did I want to go? We all know I can’t pass up a race. This 5K was a little different from the other races I run. This race is a part of the Clover Glove Race Series. Most of their races are ran without a race number. They go by your finishers card for the results. The race was at Rock Eagle therefore it was a really pretty course. The course had two major hills in it which didn’t bother me. Let’s face it I had to walk, but they didn’t slow me down like usual. The other part of the course was flat and downhill. I was determined to beat my time from yesterday so I ran these instead of walking. I finished today in 33:23 and first place in my age group. A total of 20 BB points awarded for the weekend.
In my previous posts, I think I have failed to explain the series I run for. I run for Classic Race Services which is apart of the Black Bag Race Series (BB) where I accumulate points for running their races. Currently, I am third place in my age group for the series. At the end of each year, you get goodies for placing in the top ten of your age group. A lot of races I run are also part of the Run and See Georgia Series. I am currently second place in my age group throughout the state of Georgia. Run and See is similar to Black Bag in a lot of ways. At the end of the year, I will get a plaque for placing top 20 in my age group.
I have a busy week ahead. Monday, I have a group training run with my team. Tuesday is boot camp. Wednesday is my rest day, however I will be out walking with my team. Thursday (Thanksgiving) is the Give Thanks 8K and Friday is a 5K. Saturday will be another off day and Sunday I may do a long run. No time to slow down. We figured out tonight we are all mentally disturbed. Just added a few more runs before 2017!
